🎮 Revert Game Settings Applied by Hone
Hone offers optimized in-game presets for many titles to improve performance.
However, in some cases these settings may not be ideal for every system or personal preference.
If you’d like to revert any game settings applied by Hone, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Use Hone’s Automatic Revert Option
The easiest way to revert a game preset is through Hone itself.
Open Hone
Locate the game you applied optimizations to
Click the Performance / Optimal preset
Select Deactivate Optimization
Alternative Method (Manual Revert)
In rare cases, a game may not properly revert its settings automatically.
If this happens, you can manually delete the game’s configuration file.
We’ll use Fortnite as an example below.
Step 1: Locate the Game Configuration File
For Fortnite, the config file is located at:
%LocalAppData%\FortniteGame\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\GameUserSettings.ini
Step 2: Delete the Configuration File
Close the game completely
Delete the file:
GameUserSettings.iniRelaunch the game
Your settings will now be reset to default.
How to Find Config Files for Other Games
Every game stores configuration files in different locations.
To find your game’s config path:
Search for your game
Look for the Configuration File Location
Copy the path
Delete the config file while the game is closed
Example shown below for Roblox:
⚠️ Important Note
After manually deleting a game’s config file:
Hone may still show the preset as enabled
This is only a visual cache issue
The settings are no longer applied
To fix this:
Log out of Hone
Log back in
The display will refresh correctly.
