Setting Up a Restore Point

⚠️ Restore Points - Important Before Using Hone

Restore points are critical when using optimization tools like Hone.

While all optimizations are tested internally by our Quality Assurance team, system configurations vary. Creating a restore point ensures you can quickly recover if anything unexpected occurs.

Creating a restore point takes about 20 seconds
Recovering from an issue without one can take much longer

What Is a Restore Point?

A restore point acts like a system snapshot.

If something goes wrong after applying optimizations, your restore point allows you to:

  • Revert system changes

  • Restore previous settings

  • Avoid manual troubleshooting

  • Prevent system instability

Think of it as your safety net.

How to Create a Restore Point

Step 1: Open Restore Point Utility

  • Press the Windows key

  • Search for Restore Point

  • Click Create a restore point

Step 2: Enable System Protection

  • Make sure System Protection is enabled

  • Ensure it is turned on for all available drives

This allows Windows to create and store restore points correctly.

Step 3: Create the Restore Point

  • Click Create

  • Enter a name you’ll recognize (example: Before Hone Optimization)

  • Click Create again

Step 4: Done

Windows will take a moment to generate the restore point.

Once completed, you’re safe to proceed with optimizations.

⚠️ Important Notice

Windows may automatically delete restore points to free up space.

We strongly recommend:

  • Creating a new restore point before major changes

  • Creating one before using advanced optimizations

  • Keeping system protection enabled at all times
