THIS PAGE WILL SOON BE REVAMPED!
This article will go in-depth about the most common issues users may experience with the Hone.gg software - please refer to this article and read thoroughly before deciding to continue with contacting our support team or creating a ticket.
Popup Error -Something Failed
One of the most common errors users will experience is the "Something failed" error when trying to apply an optimization or preset. It will look like the picture below and appear as a popup within the software immediately. This is typically caused by an error within Hone, or by our cracking protection which you can read more information about in the troubleshooting steps below. The most common reason users are greeted with this popup error is cracking protection, corrupted installation, or an antivirus is blocking it.
Debuggers and Cracking Protection
Hone features state of the art cracking protection to protect our customers and our optimizations. If you have any debuggers or cracking related tools installed on your device, you must uninstall them completely along with any drivers, files, or services related to said program. We recommend installing a 3rd party uninstaller tool like Geek Uninstaller to ensure the complete removal of any said drivers, files, services, and programs on your computer. Alternatively, you can reset Windows.
HTTPDEBUGGER, SpyMe, Procmon, Process Monitor, etc are just some of what Hone considers as debuggers or cracking related tools.
Antivirus or Firewalls Blocking Hone
Sometimes, a false flag may be present. Since our software deals with advanced system related optimizations, antivirus's may try blocking or deleting certain files like our game finder, and will prevent certain optimizations from working. Rest assured, we are completely safe and work closely with all antivirus services and their teams to get all false flags removed ASAP! We have an article going in-depth about any possible allegations or concerns you may hear or experience with the program in another article you can view if you wish. Please disable it or add Hone as an exception and try applying the optimization(s) or preset(s) once more.
Installer Issues
Sometimes, installation issues may occur causing corrupt files to be located within your installation of Hone. A good rule of thumb is to try our alternative installer and completely reinstall Hone using said installer to see if your issues are fixed. We are also available to download through the Epic Games Store.
You can download our alternative installer directly using the link below.

Game Detection Issues
Hone offers a unique game library located within the games tab of our software. Here, your games are automatically detected by our game finder file, many games found within this section offer dedicated performance presets and game settings. Game settings are designed to offer performance based graphical and user settings made to give you the best performance boost and FPS increase possible within that said game. You may try and access this category and see that one or more of your games are not being detected. This section addresses this issue with possible fixes for you to try. Antivirus's frequently false flag our game finder file that detects game, we are constantly working on improving its detection algorithm to avoid future false flags. Here are some steps to try to attempt and fix your game detection issues
-
- Disable your antivirus and download this .bat file- this file simply re installs a possible missing game finder file that allows for the detection of your games! It's completely safe! We've attached the virus total scan to ease any doubt you may have.

Disable Windows Insider
When Installing Hone, you may be met with an error pop-up stating that Windows Insider is not supported. Below are steps to disable it!
- Go to Settings -> Update and Security -> Windows Insider Program -> Stop Insider Preview Builds to see your options.
- Restart your computer
You can also reinstall Windows, as this will factory reset everything. Only use this as a last resort!
Hone Won't Open
Another issue some of our users run into is those who download from the Epic Games store. Epic Games has issues with processes not properly closing at times. To fix this, just open your task manager and search for Hone. Once you find it, end the task completely and try re-running the program through your dedicated shortcut on the desktop.
JavaScript Error
If you get "A JavaScript Error Occurred in the Main Process" this is thankfully a very simple fix.
- Ensure you're on the latest version of Java and that it is installed on your computer
- Reinstall using the alternative installer: https://download.overwolf.com/setup/electron/mgkabooemhaamambocobpeoeelpadcjhjgbcfhlc
Error Occurred
This error typically appears when Hone fails to verify the integrity of your resources. If you run into this error you can try re installing Hone. If this doesn't work, please contact our support team so a developer can troubleshoot. Have your logs handy!
Missing Referrals and Rewards
Hone offers a unique and extensive referral system to gain access to extra optimizations free of charge if premium doesn't interest you. Sometimes, you may notice that you are missing your rewards or have no active referrals shown in your dashboard.
Please confirm the following before contacting support -
- They used YOUR dedicated referral link that you were given
- They do not share the same device as you
- They do not share the same WiFi/IP as you
- They have enabled at least ONE optimization
If all of these requirements have been passed and you still do not have access to your rewards, please contact our support team so that we may fix this issue for you.
Why these strict requirements? Hone implements these features to prevent abuse of our reward system.
Hone Stays Stuck Updating
We release frequent updates that feature security improvements, bug fixes, UI changes, and new performance based optimizations to stay up to date in the optimization field. Occasionally, you may have Hone stay infinitely stuck on updating its resources.
- Ensure you have a stable and active Internet connection
- Ensure you are not connected to a VPN or Proxy service
- End Hone in task manager completely if the issue persist
Error Downloading Optimization Framework
This issue appears when Hone has trouble downloading the framework we use for optimizations.
- The most simple way is to try and retry the download
- Please ensure when you retry the download that you have a stable internet connection, are not connected to any VPNs, and check to see if your antivirus could be blocking anything
- Alternatively, you can select "Use Old File" and be completely fine without compromising any performance
Please contact our support team if the issue persist so that a developer can assist and troubleshoot further
Junk Cleaner Issues
By default, on the first launch of our junk cleaner located within the boost-up section of Hone, if you click Yes then you have chosen the advanced cleaning that only happens on the first instance. Sometimes, this can get stuck or you may want to close out early.
- Ensure a decent amount of time has passed by (Ex: 15 minutes of being stuck, no progress) and end Hone from the task manager or close out of the junk cleaner
